10/14/20 - LET IT RAIN

Who doesn’t enjoy a nice summer rain shower? Especially if it’s hot out, or you have seeded your lawn or planted a garden. We pray for rain only when it’s convenient and doesn’t interfere with our well made plans. Thank God He doesn’t let us dictate how He controls the weather. I know we think we do, climate change and all, but the Bible says He, God, causes it to rain, snow, get cold or warm. He, God, sent the mist to water the earth prior to the flood, He, God sent during Noah’s day. We control nothing, not even our own lives. It’s because we think we control everything, why everything is out of control. But the rain I’m speaking of is not natural but the rain of the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit rain that floods our souls to overflowing with the goodness of God. The water of the Word that purifies and cleanses us. The overwhelming flood waters of the indwelling presence of Christ. That rain. The rain that cannot be contained but must be poured out. The living water that satisfies the thirsty soul. Let it rain! Rain until the Spirit of life that is Christ in us, the hope of glory, will break forth like a dam to flood the earth with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Have you been rained on, or have you only experienced a drizzle? This rain cannot be predicted or calculated. The Bible likens it to rivers of living water. Jesus declared that those who believe in Him would possess this overflow. We need to be creating floods wherever we go!

“On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me! Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When He said “living water,” He was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in Him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into His glory.)”

‭‭John‬ ‭7:37-39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

On the day of Pentecost the rain fell. And the saturation was massive. Thousands were drawn into the waters, drawn into the rain of the Holy Ghost! People were crying out for the rain. “What must we do to be saved?” they asked? When the heavens are opened, and the cry of our hearts is for the rain, He will pour it out without limits. This rain doesn’t devastate it restores and reconcile our hearts to God. This rain isn’t like the storms the enemy twists to his advantage to bring fear to the hearts of God’s people. No! This rain produces a mighty harvest, a harvest of souls for eternity. Let it rain!

The sound of this rain doesn’t distract it attracts. It’s a certain sound. Distinguishable by tongues set on fire by the Holy Ghost. It will make the unlearned speak languages not their own. This rain turns ordinary men into statesmen. God’s purifying rain changes lives. Hallelujah! Father, let it rain! Don’t run from this downpour, embrace it. Your new tongues await. A cussing fisherman became a mouthpiece for revival (Acts 2) Because of this rain. A murderous zealot became a zealous champion for Christ. Acts 9. O that we would experience the rain from heaven! That we would leave the shallow creek and venture out into the deep waters of His grace. Let it rain! Open the floodgates of heaven Father. Rain on us.

We need the rain Lord. Like the fragrance after the summer rain, where we can smell the parched earth drinking in the natural rain. So let our thirsty souls drink in the rain of heaven. The rain that not only quenches but washes us. Father, let it rain! We long for the rain. The enemy seeks to destroy us, using a drought to distract, wanting us to believe that You won’t come, that the world is too far gone, but we won’t be fooled as the people were in Noah’s day who failed to believe that it would rain. We, your children, know the sound, the sound of Your rain. We ask for the rain. Let it rain Lord! Send the rain of revival by Your Spirit. Holy Ghost rain on us again! Let it rain!

After years of drought the prophet Elijah declared that he heard a sound of abundance of rain. 1 Kings 18. Father you sent natural rain then, send spiritual rain now in the earth. We need the rain! Give us ears to hear Lord, so we will stand in the place where Your rain will saturate us. Jesus our living water. Pour Your Spirit like rain again over Your Church. Let it rain!

Father we cry out to You!

Send Your rain once again in a dry and thirsty land in our nation and in the church. We have not as Your body, been drinking or pouring out as we should. The earth is crying out, for the manifestation of we Your children to step up and stand out. We are the vessels of Your outpouring, water us again so we can water others. We can be the planting of the Lord once again in the earth. Rain down Holy Spirit. Have Your way in us. In Jesus Name.
