Memorization of the Word without application of the Word makes us spiritual robots. Memorization and application of the Word makes us robust.
Are you having difficulty remembering Bible verses? The best way to overcome the blockage that I believe is a trick of the enemy, is to find an area in your life where a particular verse applies and use it there. For example, you are struggling in the area of finances. Instead of complaining about it or even praying about it, find where it is written that ….
“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: His righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)”
2 Corinthians 9:6-10 KJV
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You!”
Psalms 84:11-12 NKJV
Now make a good confession that because you are bountiful sower, and give cheerfully God has caused all grace to abound to you. That you have all sufficiency in all things, He’s multiplied your seed and given you increase in every area of your life. Father I declare that You will not withhold any good thing from me. You say that in faith not being moved by what you see. You won’t even realize when things have shifted to supernatural increase. You believe and speak and nothing shall be impossible to you.
“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Mark 11:22-24 KJV
Those words are black here, but they’re in red in my Bible, indicating that they’re said by Jesus written in the color of His blood. It’s indelible and cannot be overridden or scrubbed out. It’s spoken by one who cannot lie, and never will lie! Hallelujah. Then this by the apostle John;
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
I John 5:14-15 NKJV
So you make this good confession: Father I thank you because I have confidence that You hear me I ask according to Your will for….and I believe that I have received exactly what I’ve petitioned You for in Jesus Name.
Let’s continue. Say for instance you’re having trouble remembering things. Don’t cry dementia. You have the mind of Christ. Jesus is not forgetful and neither are we. The Word of God has the power to renew our minds and the Holy Spirit has the authority to remind us of things spoken by Jesus and the Father so we don’t buy into the lie that we’re getting old that’s why we’re forgetful. We stop and speak the Word, the Truth, over ourselves then ask the Holy Spirit to bring to our remembrance what it is we want to recall.
“For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.”
I Corinthians 2:16 NKJV
“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—”
I Corinthians 1:30 NKJV
So we make this good confession: I have the mind of Christ, the wisdom of God is formed in me for my righteousness, sanctification and redemption. My memory is blessed. With the Holy Spirit living on the inside of me I have an instant recall of all things meaningful and valuable to my life in Jesus Name. You’ll never forget what you make applicable to your life.
So you just got an evil report from the practicing physician. You have two choices only: The Word and the Word. To choose another option in the moment is the difference between life or death. The response you feed will be the one that has the power in your life. So what do you do?
“and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I Am the Lord who heals you.”Exodus 15:26 NKJV
“So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.”Exodus 23:25 NKJV
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”Luke 10:19 NKJV
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:5 NKJV
“Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”Psalms 103:1-5 NKJV
So you make this good confession: Father, you've heard the report. But I choose to believe the report of my greater Physician Jesus Christ. You promised that none of the diseases of the Egyptians would come upon me, because I’m your child and walk in obedience to your Word. You have said nothing shall by any means hurt me. You Jesus took all my sickness and diseases in Your body, nailing them to the cross declaring that by Your wounds, I was healed. That’s past tense, a done deal. I receive the promise of divine health because all my diseases including what I was just told was healed and now my youth is restored as I receive by faith Your finished work in Jesus Name! Don’t doubt in your heart and take any thought saying what you see or hear. Speak the Word only. It’s not mind over matter it’s faith over circumstances.
So you’re having problems with your children. Watch the words coming out of your mouth over your kids. Death and life are in your words. Most of the things people are experiencing today are coming from their own tongues. They’re poisoning their own lives, and their family’s lives too. If we would stop and listen or pay attention to what we’re taking in and speaking out we’d be shocked. The Bible doesn’t lie. Death and life is in the tongue. So choose your words wisely and carefully.
This is what you speak over your children and even to them. I repeat: You’ll never forget what you put into practice. Application produces memorization. You’ll never forget what you use daily. It’s like a trusted route. You can get anywhere from there. You know it with your eyes closed. As a matter of fact your car knows it. The Word is the same way. The more you apply it the less lost you’ll be and the
more confident and proficient you’ll become. Faith is developed through use. That’s why it’s in the now and not the future. You confess as though it’s already done. Speak what you want and not what you heard. You know what they said, but their word isn’t final, God’s Word is! That is if He is the final authority in your life. So back to the kids.
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.”Psalms 127:3 NKJV
“All your children shall be taught by the Lord, And great shall be the peace of your children.”Isaiah 54:13 NKJV
“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”Deuteronomy 6:6-9 NKJV
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training (reverential fear) and admonition of the Lord.”
Ephesians 6:1-4 NKJV
So you make this good confession: Father in the Name of Jesus I thank You for my children/child. They’re a blessing from You to my family. I thank you Lord that as I teach them about You, taking the time to pray with and for them. That you will bring peace to their hearts and minds. That they have a heart to follow after You. I come against the spirit of rebellion and remind Satan that these are Your children and they’re off limits to him and his influences. I have obeyed Your Word, walking in accordance with it. Therefore I expect the Word to work in my children’s lives. Give me wisdom to know who You’ve called them to be, and help me bring forth the gifts You have placed within them. They will honor and serve You as they honor and obey me so that they will have the long life Your Word promises in Jesus Name!
You have an important decision to make regarding a situation you’re not sure how to go about it. Don’t be hasty, don’t call your friends. There’s a Friend that sticketh closer than any brother who possesses all wisdom and knows all things. He promises never to leave us and has invited us to ask Him for and about anything. You ask and wait for His instructions based on His Word. He is obligated to respond when we pray His Word in accordance to His will.
“and thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”Isaiah 30:21 KJV
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye.”Psalm 32:8 KJV
“Teach me good judgment and knowledge: For I have believed Thy commandments. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path. The entrance of Thy words giveth light; It giveth understanding unto the simple. Order my steps in Thy Word: And let not any iniquity have dominion over me.”
Psalm 119:66, 105, 130, 133 KJV
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: And He delighteth in his way.”Psalm 37:23 KJV
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct thy paths.”Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”Joshua 1:8 NKJV
So you make this good confession: Father in the Name of Jesus I thank you that Your Word says You would let me hear Your voice directing me in the way that I should go whether left or right. You promised to instruct me and teach me in the way that I should go and to guide me with Your eye. Give me knowledge and good judgment in this decision because I’m trusting Your Word to be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I cling to Your Word because it gives light to my situation and promises that all my steps are ordered by You. I desire to know Your will before making a decision so that my direction will be from you, and my path made clear. I have sought Your Word as you have instructed me to, so therefore I know that my way will be made prosperous and I will have good success moving forward in Jesus Name.
And the big one. You’ve messed up. Done something you thought you’d never do. You know you’ve hurt the heart of Jesus. Don’t retreat and beat yourself up. Don’t live with guilt and condemnation. He has already forgiven you two thousand plus years ago. Don’t let the enemy lie to you that your Father is angry and doesn’t want to hear you. He may be disappointed but not surprised. And He’s waiting for you to do what His Word says: Repent and confess the sin.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9 KJV
“The LORD is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: Neither will he keep His anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward them that fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far hath He removed our transgressions from us.”
Psalm 103:8-12 KJV
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
Romans 8:1 KJV
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”Proverbs 28:13 KJV
“For whom the Lord loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives.”Hebrews 12:6 NKJV
“Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, That I might not sin against Thee.”
Psalm 119:11 KJV
So you make this good confession: Father in the Name of Jesus I admit that I have sinned against You. You said that if I cover my sin I will not prosper but that if I confess my sins that You are faithful and just to forgive and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Therefore I approach You as Your child acknowledging that I have————(name the offense) but according to Your Word, You’re merciful and gracious and will not treat me as my sin deserves. You chasten and correct me because You’re my Father and You love me. I thank You for Your forgiveness that removes condemnation and frees me in Your presence. I now confess that I will hide Your Word in my heart so that I will not sin against You. I receive Your love, mercy, grace and forgiveness as Your child in Jesus Name.
Application removes forgetfulness. Application produces memorization but not in a robotic way. You’ll never forget what you put into practice on a daily basis. If we do not put the Word to work in practical ways, we’ll never see the manifestation or clearly understand how to apply it to real life events. These aren’t the words of mere men. This is the life changing, life transforming, sharper than a two edged sword Word of the Living God! Jesus used Words in every miracle He performed. The Word of God created what we see around us. Words, God’s Word matters. Our problem isn’t that we don’t have a solution to every problem, our problem is apathy. We’re too lazy to find out what has been made available to us, and then put into practice what we’ve learned. It’s easier to take a pill than believe that we’re already healed from the headache. It’s easier to take a loan than believe that we’ve been given unlimited resources. It’s easier to blame society than take responsibility for raising godly children. It’s easier to cop out and complain than actually do something. Some of the greatest critics are people who do nothing.
Start small. A seed is useless unless planted. You have been given the same measure of faith as the person you’re admiring or criticizing. They just have better obedience and believing. They have chosen to take God at His Word. One answered prayer makes room for two, three, four and a thousand. If He did it before, then He’ll do it again. Why do we doubt after we’ve already experienced His faithfulness? We have taken our eyes off Jesus and placed it on the waves. The waves will work for us if we don't see it as a problem. If we see our problems as opportunities, our setbacks as comebacks, our disappointments as setups for something much better, We will live the triumphant life God has promised us in Christ Jesus. He is the Word that became flesh. It’s in Him that we live, move and have our well-being and existence. Acts 17:28. Christ in us, the hope of glory! Colossians 1:27 Hallelujah!
When we choose to apply the Word instead of memorizing the Word, We’ll enjoy the benefits of it. Get it from your head to your heart. Luke 6:45. So whatever you’re facing today, search the Scriptures for an answer to the situation. Make a good confession and begin living it’s principles. Listen to what God says about His Word.
“Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth, and the Lord said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, To root out and to pull down, To destroy and to throw down, To build and to plant.” Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I Am ready to perform My word.”
Jeremiah 1:9-12 NKJV
We need to understand that what we read in the Word applies to us today. If not, it won't benefit us. God isn’t writing a new Bible, this is it! Make good use of every promise. He has put His Word in our mouths. He has given us authority through His Word to root out, pull down, destroy and throw down principalities and powers of darkness. We have authority to build and plant, righteousness, holiness, and bring light to a dark and hopeless world. God says He is ready to perform His Word! Are we ready for Him to perform it through us? The Holy Spirit has used every possible angle to bring His Word to us through these messages. If you’ve been reading for a while, you can agree and attest that no topic has been off limits. There’s nothing you’re facing that He hasn’t addressed here. Sometimes I think we’ve exhausted every possible subject. But somehow He keeps coming up with more. He’s given out so much. But now He’s saying “I Am ready to take all this information, all this investment of My Word in your life to another level. I Am ready to bring manifestations! Hallelujah!
It’s no longer going to take years, it’s no longer in the future, in the sweet by and by. He wants to perform it now. We need to raise the level of our expectancy. We need to begin to confess the Word more than we confess our problems. There’s no time left for childishness. God wants to act on your behalf but He’s not hearing His Word coming forth from your mouths. Notice what He said. His Word. Not our complaints. So begin now, today! To change your confession. He’s ready to perform it. Remember it’s not about memorization it’s about application.
“But if you live in life-union with Me and if My words live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done.”
John 15:7 TPT
If you will say…and not doubt…and believe…you will have….
