12/1/21-I AM YOUR COMPASS

I don’t know about you, but knowing that God is in control of my life and all that it entails, gives me great comfort. With so much uncertainty in our world today it’s great to know that we don’t need to sweat the small or seemingly big stuff. Either God is a liar or everything He says in His Word is true. If things aren’t going great in your life right now, still choose to believe. It’s impossible for God to lie so therefore having done all to stand, stand therefore!
I am determined to not go backwards or look back. God is faithful no matter what we see, hear or experience. Psalms 62:8 reads. Trust Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah(pause and think about that)
He is a refuge for us. How will we ever know what He’s capable of if we never need Him? How can we prove that His Word is reliable if we’ve never been put in a position to trust it? I believe we sometimes forget that the life we live is a faith life. The purpose of a compass is to keep us from straying off course. God has each of us on a path exclusively ours. There will be times when things are clear and other times when the fog is so dense we’re unable to see the path before us. But by following the direction of our Compass we will get to His desired destination for our lives. No matter how bad things may appear we can all say we’re in a better place today than even yesterday. God is good all the time!
Listen to what Isaiah says about our Compass;
“I will bring the blind by a way they did not know; I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, And crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, And not forsake them.”
Isaiah 42:16 NKJV
Did you catch that? Even when you have no idea what is happening, even though you cannot see. Even though you do not understand why things aren’t going the way you thought it should at this stage in your life. Life just doesn’t make sense. Your Compass says, He’s leading, He’s making darkness light, He’s making the crooked places straight. Then He adds, which should make our hearts leap for joy: These things I WILL do for them, and not FORSAKE them. Hallelujah! Take that to the bank and deposit it. He, our Compass, will do everything He’s promised.
We tend to freak out before we reach out. We always go to the worst case scenario instead of turning to His infallible Word. He is still with us no matter what it looks like. I’m constantly talking to myself about what He has said. Reminding my finite mind that I serve an infinite God. I will never figure life out. Neither am I supposed to. We have to go beyond knowing the Word to living and proving the Word. That’s what changes us and those around us. Evidence. Proof that it works. The Holy Spirit said this to me years ago: “You know Me by My Word, now I need you to experience My Word.” The Word is a living breathing Person. The Father is only glorified in Jesus when the Word bears fruit in us. Trust the Compass. He knows where He’s taking us.
We all need to be reminded from time to time that we will face challenges, but He’s still very much in control as we yield to His guidance. No life is free of trouble. Not even the rich and famous. The poor are rich who have the Lord as their compass. We needn’t fear the darkness or the unknown for He promises to lead the blind by an unknown way. I’d rather be blind and led by Him, than have vision and not know where I’m going. He said He’s taking us on an adventure, going by a path we’ve never traveled. That tells me to stop trying to figure things out. Stop trying to control the compass.
I’ll share something I read in my quiet time that sheds light on what we’re studying today. It’s a true blessing. From “I Hear His Whisper.”
The road has offered you many twists and turns. Taken you in directions you didn’t think you would go. But when you realize that life’s path has led you through an unexpected journey, don’t fear. I am with you. No path is beyond the scope of My radar. This journey may not have gone exactly as you would have chosen, but beloved, we’re not done yet.
When I read that last line I received renewed strength. He’s not finished with me yet. We’re going through a process of elimination and growth. I’m on His radar. He’s my Compass. The path may be unfamiliar to me but not to Him. He knows the way He’s taking me. I needn’t fear or stress myself out. It’s all going to work out for my good and His glory! Hallelujah to our faithful Lord! Psalm 121 comes to mind. Let’s read as I close.
“I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.”
Psalms 121:1-8 NKJV
From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord! The Lord who made everything. Let Him be your compass in the uncertainties of life. He has promised safe passage to the other side.
