The apostle Paul emphatically declared after a list of things that often try to draw us away from God, that none of those things are capable of separating us from God’s love. I recall saying to the Lord that I think I’ve used up my seventy times seven forgiveness from Him lol. He graciously responded never! We can never exhaust love that has neither beginning nor ending. The Bible says God IS love period, full stop. We can weary His patience as He said of Israel, but never His love.
“So, what does all this mean? If God has determined to stand with us, tell me, who then could ever stand against us? For God has proved His love by giving us His greatest treasure, the gift of His Son. And since God freely offered Him up as the sacrifice for us all, He certainly won’t withhold from us anything else He has to give. Who then would dare to accuse those whom God has chosen in love to be His? God Himself is the judge who has issued His final verdict over them—“Not guilty!” Who then is left to condemn us? Certainly not Jesus, the Anointed One! For He gave His life for us, and even more than that, He has conquered death and is now risen, exalted, and enthroned by God at His right hand. So how could He possibly condemn us since He is continually praying for our triumph? Who could ever divorce us from the endless love of God’s Anointed One? Absolutely no one! For nothing in the universe has the power to diminish His love toward us. Troubles, pressures, and problems are unable to come between us and heaven’s love. What about persecutions, deprivations, dangers, and death threats? No, for they are all impotent to hinder omnipotent love, even though it is written: All day long we face death threats for Your sake, God. We are considered to be nothing more than sheep to be slaughtered! Yet even in the midst of all these things, we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and His demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything! So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that His love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken His love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!”
Romans 8:31-39 TPT
Read those verses slowly. There’s nothing we could ever face or go through in this life that has the power to separate us from our Father’s inexhaustible love. No sin too great, no matter how many times we mess up or miss the mark. His love transcends it all. We are the most loved of all His creations. He went to great lengths to buy us back. He could’ve started over as with the flood many times over, instead He chose love over judgment. I don’t know about you, but that’s a God worth submitting to.
Israel tested His patience as are we, yet we read these words:
“Let everyone thank God, for He is good, and He is easy to please! His tender love for us continues on forever! Give thanks to God, our King over all gods! His tender love for us continues on forever! Give thanks to the Lord over all Lords! His tender love for us continues on forever! Give thanks to the only miracle-working God! His tender love for us continues on forever! Give thanks to the Creator who made the heavens with wisdom! His tender love for us continues on forever! To Him who formed dry ground, raising it up from the sea! His tender love for us continues on forever! Praise the one who created every heavenly light! His tender love for us continues on forever! He set the sun in the sky to rule over the day! His tender love for us continues on forever! Praise Him who set in place the moon and stars to rule over the night! His tender love for us continues on forever! Give thanks to God, who struck down the firstborn in Egypt! His tender love for us continues on forever! He brought His people out of Egypt with miracles! His tender love for us continues on forever! With His mighty power He brought them out! His tender love for us continues on forever! He split open the Red Sea for them! His tender love for us continues on forever! And led His people right through the middle! His tender love for us continues on forever! He vanquished Pharaoh’s armies, drowning them all! His tender love for us continues on forever! He led His people through the wilderness! His tender love for us continues on forever! He’s the one who smashed mighty kingdoms! His tender love for us continues on forever! He triumphed over powerful kings who stood in His way! His tender love for us continues on forever! He conquered Sihon, king of the Amorites! His tender love for us continues on forever! He conquered the giant named Og, king of Bashan! His tender love for us continues on forever! Then He gave away their lands as an inheritance! His tender love for us continues on forever! For He handed it all over to Israel, His beloved! His tender love for us continues on forever! He’s the God who chose us when we were nothing! His tender love for us continues on forever! He has rescued us from the power of our enemies! His tender love for us continues on forever! He provides food for hungry men and animals! His tender love for us continues on forever! Give thanks to the great God of the heavens! His tender love for us continues on forever!”
Psalms 136:1-26 TPT
What does forever mean? That’s right. Inexhaustible. We have no idea what true love really means unless or until we truly experience the love of God through His Son Jesus Christ. Our human expression of love is “like” at best. We’re not big on sacrificing self for the benefit of others, not even when they’re good to us. But God, even when we don’t reciprocate, or even show gratitude for all He does, He still loves us. Did you read how many times the words His love endures forever is stated? After every act of His generosity and kindness we find the reasons why. His inexhaustible love for us.
Knowing how much we’re loved should fill us with joy. When someone breaks our heart, His wraparound love brings healing. When life is more than we can handle, His wraparound love brings us peace. When we are overcome by grief, His wraparound love brings us comfort. Paul was right, NOTHING will ever be able to separate us from His love. It’s His love, not ours. We can trust it. Because that is who He is. God is love. 1 John 4:8
Someone wrote and I couldn’t agree more, that we cannot separate Him from love, faithfulness, or goodness because He is their definition. His love is unflinching. He never withdraws His love, that would mean withdrawing Himself from us.
“Lord, You’re so kind and tenderhearted and so patient with people who fail You! Your love is like a flooding river overflowing its banks with kindness.”
Psalms 103:8 TPT
Father, thank You for Your inexhaustible love. We couldn’t earn it, nor did we deserve it. But you love us in spite of us. Give us grateful hearts to acknowledge Your goodness towards us so that we may humbly submit to You. Remove the obstacles that blind us to Your love for us. In Jesus Name 🙏
