4/20/2021 - DEFINITION

We are living in a day and time where people and governments are altering the Biblical definition of sin to accommodate the new normal. Cancel culture wants to remove anything that goes against what they want to do. They want to remove Christianity from the public square, for one reason only. Conscience. What do I mean by that?

If you change God’s definition of sin, you remove conviction and conscience. We will have to decide what changes we desire and what changes God approves of. Whether personal, cooperate or natural.

This much I do know, God’s Word and order will never change! Jesus said “until heaven and earth pass away (is there still a heaven and earth?) not even one smallest letter, or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. Matthew 5:18 He continued in verse 19

“Whoever then breaks or does away with or relaxes one of the least [important] of these commandments and teaches men so shall be called least [important] in the kingdom of heaven, but he who practices them and teaches others to do so shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:19‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

God is not going to relax His law, no matter what the cancel culture says. And as preachers and teachers of His Word, we shouldn’t either. It doesn’t matter what executive orders are signed, or what bills are written in congress, if it defies God’s natural, spiritual or personal accountability laws, they must be rejected by the church of Jesus Christ. We are either with Him or against Him.

I know what I’m directed to write and teach isn’t popular, but I serve one Lord. His Word takes precedent over every other word. We don’t conform to the world’s normal, we transform ideology that sets itself against biblical truths. We don’t operate by man’s wisdom, we have the mind of Christ. We’re living in the age of secularism, the enlightened society wants all boundaries removed, which is akin to removing conscience. We’re headed toward a cliff, with nothing to hang on to. A humanistic society declaring they’re their own god. They’re inventing their own reality. Scrubbing God and Jesus out of everything.

What’s even more shocking, is how much of the church world has adopted these concepts. We have begun to not only discuss and entertain the ideas of the world, some have moved beyond discussion to implementation. Sin is sin no matter how we dress it up! God’s Word will not be adjusted or altered. There was a time when you could easily identify the church, I’m not speaking about a building, even though it factors in here, now you’d be hard pressed to distinguish between the holy and the profane. The church has adapted and/or succumbed to the pressure of societal influence. Rethinking how they do “church“ have we lost our minds?! I thought Jesus already built or established “His”church. I thought He said the gates of hell shall not prevail against “His “ church. But lately it seems like hell has taken over.

When you change the true definition of a thing, you remove conviction and conscience. Let me give some examples:

Abortion-women’s health

Same sex attraction- you were born that way

Stealing/looting-reparation

Fornication/adultery- we love each other

Lying-grey areas

What’s your angle? What definition do you use to remove conviction or conscience? What compromises are you willing to make to fit in or get your way? Because you can, doesn’t make it right or acceptable. If it’s not God/Jesus approved, it has no place in our lives as His children. The world loves it when the church compromises. Satan loves it too. Dare to be a Daniel and you’ll end up in the Lion’s den. But, you won’t be eaten. Conform and you will be destroyed by the very same people you’re trying to please. Why? It’s not about you, it’s about the Name of Jesus. I read something the other day that makes my point. The headline reads:

A private school in Manhattan is warning against using sex-based terms like “mom and dad” or “boys and girls,” because they make assumptions about people.

Change the definition, and you remove conviction and conscience. This statement was made by the Grace Church School. They claim they’re victims of the culture war storm. Give me a break! If I’ve learned anything serving Jesus all these years it’s that excuses don’t move Him. Cold or hot is His preference, lukewarm not so much. It makes Him vomit. Jesus said we cannot be plucked from His nor His Father’s hands. We are the only ones who can remove ourselves. I told the Bible study group that God will never stop us from sinning. Why? Free will! He has given us His Word as a guide, set certain boundaries in place, it’s up to us whether we choose to obey or not. 1 Samuel 15:22 Deuteronomy 28.

It’s impossible to be enlightened above the light. God is light. But we love darkness more than the Light. John 3:19. But Jesus said everything hidden will be exposed by the light. Mark 4:22 we can change whatever we want to remove God’s conviction, but we can never change the consequences. Sin and lawlessness will be judged and punished. No matter how normal we make it. God’s Word will not change because He changes not! As Christians, we will be judged for what we have turned a blind eye to. We will be judged for turning His house into a den of compromise and deception. We’ve contributed to dead consciences and a lack of conviction. The world came to us for answers, but we’ve made them twice as much a son of hell. Matthew 23:15.

Years ago I heard Myles Munroe say these words. “There’s a convergence of forces. He said different forces that normally happened alone, begins to happen all at the same time. He continued. Be careful of what draws you in. This is a season of massive change.” He made this statement in 2013. Little did he know, that his words would be fulfilled seven years later. He said “you’re never remembered for what you compromised with, but for what you stood up for or against.” So how will the church be remembered in this woke, humanistic, post modern, secularistic, enlightened, new normal, age of reason society? Will we be remembered as the church that stood for biblical values? The culture of death and life begins in the home. Culture is taught. What are we teaching our children and grandchildren? What boundary lines have we drawn and aren’t willing to cross pertaining to what God wants? 2 Corinthians 5:10

We must take a stand people of God. This is not a stroll in the park. This is decision time. Those on the Lord’s side must be definitive about what or on whose authority we’re standing on. If it’s culture and government, then choose, but if it’s Almighty God, then take a position and stick with it. There’s no room for indecision. Remember, to change the definition of a thing, is to remove its conscience and conviction.

“Shall we thus provoke the Lord to jealousy and anger and indignation? Are we stronger than He [that we should defy Him]? [Deut. 32:21; Eccl. 6:10; Isa. 45:9.]”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:22‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
