That’s the question God instructed the prophet Isaiah to ask His people. But so many today, including some Christians, are doing just that. Instead of seeking the Lord for answers and direction, they turn to mediums, tarot cards and horoscopes. Can the dead give answers for life to the living? They’re DEAD! It sounds even more preposterous as I’m writing it. The grave is silent, it has no voice, except from those who have given themselves over to be controlled by evil demonic forces. The voice you hear giving them what they believe is truth, is that of the master of deception.
Here’s what Jehovah has to say:
“Someone may say to you, “Let’s ask the mediums and those who consult the spirits of the dead. With their whisperings and mutterings, they will tell us what to do.” But shouldn’t people ask God for guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead? Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict His Word are completely in the dark. Isaiah 8:19-20 NLT
It pays to read your Bible, you may just learn something. Everything we need to know is already recorded for us. Truth at your fingertips. God left nothing to chance. Why would light consult with darkness? The angels at the empty tomb of the resurrected Christ asked the women the same question.
“Why do you seek the living among the dead?” Luke 24:5-7
In the age of instant gratification, and the need to know, people have turned away from the Truth. Fear of the future is a strong lure to seeking outer worldly answers, but they’re all illusions based upon falsity and deception. The deceived offering advice to the vulnerable. You may argue that they told you something about yourself that you didn’t disclose. Are you forgetting who their boss is? That’s the lure. And that’s what keeps people going back. The God who knows you completely wants you to ask Him. Why? Because He’s the only One with the answers you seek, and He has great plans for your present and your future.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find Me.”
Jeremiah 29:11-13 NLT
There’s your answer. You needn’t consult with the dead to learn about your future. As children of God, our future is in His hands- Hands that won’t allow you to fall or fail. His palm has your name tattooed in them. Isaiah 49:16. He knows where you live and where you hurt. He knows what you need and when to get it to you. If you believed the dead, then you’re no better off. Why not submit to the faithful One who doesn’t need to read your cards to tell you your future? He is your future.
Times are scary for sure. People are suffering in a myriad of ways. But going into tomorrow is never wise, since we’re only given sufficient grace for today. These are uncertain times. But we who are His, possess a peace in knowing that we’re not in control. Our lives are secure in Christ. We look forward to each day with certainty, a confident expectation of good. Because we serve a Loving Father who stands behind every word, every promise. Jeremiah 1:12
If your future is worth five or ten dollars, it’s unreliable at best. But the future your Father has for you could not be purchased with money, no, it’s more costly than that. It was purchased with blood. Your future is a unbroken covenant, no dead can offer you that. We have been given a bright future. The mediums may promise but can’t deliver. Jesus has delivered on His promises.
What are you unsure of? What concerns you? What is robbing you of peace and rest? The answer is found in your seeking. Are you seeking Him? If you are, then take Jesus at His Word and ask. Ask so that your joy may be full.
“You haven’t done this before. Ask, using My Name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.”
John 16:24 NLT
If anyone tells you that your future can be known by paying ten dollars, behind a curtain-Reevaluate your options. Dead or Living🤔it’s a no-brainer. Choose to listen to the Living. Only then will you get a clear picture of the future He planned for you before your birth. Why seek the living among the dead? Great question. But we have this promise from a great Source.
“The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.”
Isaiah 9:2 NLT
WARNING: Occultism isn’t harmless fun, it’s opening oneself up to demonic spirits. Don’t take counsel from the ungodly. Their counsel and advice is coming from a deadened spirit. I don’t recall one medium or fortune teller warning the world about Covid do you? Also be careful of pastors and teachers who stray from the Word of God, offering up opinions instead of the revealed Word. Compromising the Truth for personal gain.
