What are your thoughts on the verses you just read? Do you believe what’s written concerning you and the position you’ve been given in Christ? We’ve been redeemed, bought as it were from a slave master to a glorious inheritance and promoted to a place of sonship in Christ. We’re kings and priests. We’re not ordinary, we’re royalty. If we are His children, then all that He has is now ours.
Why haven’t we assumed our position? Because we don’t believe. We read the scriptures daily but we refuse to believe and accept what it says about us. Jesus Himself says “I’ve given you the keys of the kingdom “. When you make an application for a position and you receive an acceptance letter, the job isn’t yours until you accept the offer and terms of agreement. The same thing applies to God’s offer of sonship. We must accept the invitation and position if we’re to qualify for all the benefits. Nothing is assumed.
“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; the things you don’t allow on earth will be the things that God does not allow, and the things you allow on earth will be the things that God allows.”
Matthew 16:19 NCV
We have been given a very prestigious position in His kingdom. Read it again. We have the authority to determine what’s allowed or not. We have the keys to effect agreement in heaven and on earth. Wow! Then why aren’t we seeing or experiencing these results in our lives and world? We don’t know our position. I said in one of the earlier messages that William does not struggle with being a Prince, and queen Elizabeth does not struggle with being queen. Why? They have accepted their position.
We have been born again and adopted into God’s family. All things are now ours based on that fact. We can continue living like slaves and paupers, or we can accept who we now are in Jesus Christ. Chosen royalty. Ordinary slaves were bought with currency, we have been purchased by blood. Our DNA has been reconfigured. That’s why we don’t accept sickness, diseases, poverty or lack.
We are not victims of the world system, we have been given the keys. We own the world. Unbelief is our enemy, not Satan. We choose, we decide what we will accept of the Truth in God’s Word. I’ll share something I recently read to make my point.
There once lived a slave in the deep South, and though slavery was a wicked institution, this man had an amicable relationship with his plantation owner. When the plantation owner wrote his will, he wanted to express his appreciation for the man who had served him faithfully all his life. So after his death, he left a $50,000 inheritance for this man -- perhaps equal to half a million today. The lawyer of the estate notified the old man of his inheritance and told him that the money had been deposited for him at the local bank. Weeks went by, and the former slave never called for any of his inheritance. Finally, the banker called him and told him that he had $50,000 that he was welcome to draw on at any time. The old man replied, ‘Sir, do you think I can have fifty cents to buy a sack of cornmeal?’ He had had no money all his life, so he had no comprehension of his wealth. Here he was, asking for fifty cents, when he had $50,000 at his disposal!
Does that sound like some of us? We have unlimited access to all things through Christ, yet we’re living like slaves and not sons and daughters. What did the prodigal son do after he came to his senses? He returned to the place of abundance, the place of access: Father’s house. When are we going to accept our position and make Abba proud? We break His heart when we refuse to accept His promises. To be honest we make Him look bad-As if He doesn’t know how to take care of His children. All things are truly ours. We don’t need to find our identity in anyone or anything but our Lord. He has richly blessed us. The scripture says He has richly given us all things to enjoy. 1 Timothy 6:17.
“So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.”
1 Corinthians 3:21-23 NIV
So what’s your position on the position God has given you? Are you convinced that you are royalty? Are you ready to step into your new normal? We don’t work at being kings and priests we just are. I don’t work at being a woman, I just am. I need no convincing nor do I need to convince you that I’m a woman. The same applies to my position in Christ. Jesus says I’m royalty, then my only response is to believe, and live it. Are you onboard? All things are ours. We will never fully understand who we are until we embrace the Truths found in His Word.
