“In my former book, (Luke is speaking here and is referring to his gospel) Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach until the day He was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles He had chosen.” Acts 1:1-2.
Jesus, as did the apostles have all moved over to the book of Acts. And you should too! You’ll find Jesus continuing His work from Acts to Revelation. Don’t get caught up in the lies that only the gospels reveals Jesus. You’re missing out!
All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. So that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:15
I believe and accept that wholeheartedly. For if humans had anything to do with what was put in or left out, the things we’re stumbling over now, would’ve been left out. For example; the Achilles heel; homosexuality, fornication, lying, idolatry etc. would’ve been left out. Jesus may not have addressed everything personally, but He is now, by His Spirit in Romans 1 and 1 Corinthians 10, and other scriptures . So we believe All scriptures as written or none of it. We don’t get to choose. If men were writing; Abraham lying about Sarah being his wife because he was a punk, nope. Moses killing a man and burying him under the sand; I don’t think so. The entire account of Sodom and Gomorrah definitely not that! And the list goes on. We would have written that all out. So yes! Man wrote the Bible but they didn’t get to decide what was put in or left out. (See Revelation 22:18-19)
The milk was the introduction in the gospels, if in the natural you cannot thrive on just milk, it’s the same spiritually. The meat begins for the Church in the Book of Acts and forward. Jesus’ primary reason for coming was to fulfill everything that was written about Him in the Old Testament; fulfill the laws we couldn’t keep, die for our sins; reconcile us back to the Father and send us His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit would now, as Jesus promised, reveal Jesus to those of us who never met Him face to face like the apostles did. And how did we get introduced? Through what He taught the disciples, and Paul, after his Damascus road conversion.
Their inspiration by the Holy Spirit is now what we have in The NEW Testament beginning with the Book of Acts. So now all the truth including sins as revealed is being dealt with in the NEW Testament writings. Jesus, taught us what the role of The Holy Spirit would be in John 16, and He manifested in Acts 2. For the record, All unrighteousness is sin. 1 John 5:17.
So if you’re stuck in the gospels, you’re still eating the appetizer. While Jesus has, with His disciples, moved on to the meat. The meat being everything He has revealed to the apostles by His Spirit, and written for our edification. We are actually meeting Jesus in His now glorified and exalted position as High Priest. You won’t find that anywhere in the gospels, but you will in Hebrews. You won’t know we were engrafted or accepted into His family by reading the gospels, but you will by reading Romans. You won’t know what He delivered you from and brought you to, by reading the gospels, but you will by reading Ephesians, Galatians, Colossians and 1&2 Thessalonians. Are you getting the picture? Move from milk/appetizers to filet mignon. You’re missing out on what He told the apostles to wait for in Jerusalem. Acts 2
Jesus alluded to this in John 5:39-40 . . “These are the very scriptures that testify about ME.” Yet you refuse to come to me to have life. He’s saying you’re missing me in your searching because you’re stuck. Stuck in tradition. Stuck in your own head or understanding. If you read the gospels accurately, you’ll find that Jesus spoke more about future events than current events. Why? Because the gospels were a prelude of things to come. God is not interested in how educated or knowledgeable we are about anything, including His Word! He’s all about your Transformation! The thief on the cross got what the Pharisees missed! Don’t be a Pharisee, it will cause you to miss out on HIM!
Father in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes that I may behold wondrous things in your Word. I empty myself of myself, so that you have all the room you need to fill me up. If I have thought more highly of myself than I ought, please forgive me! I place you on the highest place, today, the throne of my heart. In Jesus Name. Amen
