6/2/21- WHERE IS MY GUEST ROOM?

The Word of Jesus astounds and astonishes me. You can say it makes me scratch my head while shaking it in awe, wonder and amazement. Yeah! All those adjectives. We think we’re so smart, we know absolutely nothing about anything. He knows it all, owns it all because He created it all! He makes me laugh out loud all the time. He has the best sense of humor. I envy His disciples, but I’m glad He had them record the events, they’re unbelievably believable. And I love it!!

If you think He doesn’t own everything, think again. The Bible says we’re not our own. It also says the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness or everything in it. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Psalm 24. Every time I read the verses I’m about to share, I have the same reaction. Wow! Let’s see if your light goes on when you read it.

On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover Lamb is sacrificed, Jesus’ disciples asked Him, “Where would you like us to prepare the Passover meal for You?” So He sent two of His disciples ahead into Jerusalem with these instructions: “Make your way into the city and watch for a man carrying a pitcher of water. Follow him, and say to the owner of whatever house he enters, ‘The Teacher wants to ask you: “Do you have MY room ready where I can eat the Passover meal with My disciples?” ’ And he will show you a large upstairs room ready and with a table set. Make preparations for us there.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:12-15‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Did you catch it? Or do you even know what I’m referring to? Lol I’ll let you sit with your thoughts for a minute before continuing 😊the disciples were either astonished or took for granted the magnitude of what just happened. We do the same thing too. We get so familiar with the things Jesus says and does, we eventually lose our awe and wonder. Oh, it’s just Jesus, son of Mary and Joseph. Oh, it’s just Jesus, He does good stuff. Ask Jesus, He’ll do it. He becomes common, but that’s the problem, He’s not! Without Him nothing was created. Without Him there’s no life at all. Colossians 1:16

That’s why the disciples were so distraught after the crucifixion. They had missed everything He taught them. They forgot the words of warning. He prepared them for His death for three years. They heard what they wanted to and had selective amnesia about the rest. I can tell by the way the preceding words are written that it was just another day at the office with Jesus. In the mean time I’m freaking out by the revelation. This is us.

“So they went into the city and found everything to be exactly like Jesus had prophesied, and they prepared for Him the Passover meal.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:16‬ ‭TPT‬‬

You missed it too so allow me to enlighten you 🤦‍♀️. Read the opening verses again. Now allow the Holy Spirit to open your eyes. He told the two disciples, I’m shocked He didn’t mention their names, but I guess it’s for the reasons I mentioned, we can put our names in the blank. He told them to follow a man they never met with a pitcher, go into whatever house he enters, and ask the owner of the house, “where is “MY”guest room?! And the owner didn’t have a problem with the question. He showed them the room. What! It didn’t matter which house the man with the jar of water entered, the question would’ve been the same. Where is MY guest room? You can’t see me, but my right palm is under my chin as I write with my left hand. I’m forever amazed. He knows everything and every heart.

The same scenario was played out when He sent his disciples to get a colt for His entry into Jerusalem. See Mark 11. Only that time the people asked, well let’s read it -it’s too awesome to trust that you’ll go look it up.

Go into that village over there,” He told them. “As you enter it, you will see a young donkey tied there that no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying that colt?’ just say, ‘The Lord needs it.’” So they went and found the colt, just as Jesus had said. And sure enough, as they were untying it, the owners asked them, “Why are you untying that colt?” And the disciples simply replied, “The Lord needs it.” Luke‬ ‭19:30-34‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Hahaha. What! And once again the disciples went on their merry way. No biggie. It just Jesus, and what He does. No! It’s more than that! He’s God! He owns everything and knows every heart. He knows the question before it’s asked, He knows the answer before it’s given. He’s not just anything! We must never lose the wonder, never lose the reverence, never lose the glow the revealed words bring. That’s why He wants us to remain childlike. Kids are awed by an empty box with strings. It’s not normal to walk into someone’s house and expect a room, it’s not normal to untie someone’s colt, but it is normal if it belongs to you. Everything is a gift from God. We just fail to acknowledge that.

So big question. Where in your life is the Master’s guest room? Or does He even have one? Can He send His Angel to find out? Can He come in and take whatever He chooses of your life? Can He take your stuff? Or are they off limits? In the message “Understanding Partnership,” I shared how the Lord wants us to move away from “me“ and “mine” to ours. What’s ours is actually His. He has total rights to all including our lives. Our next breath is His. Let that sink in. We take so much for granted. So He wants to know: Where is His guest room? Is there room for Him in your busy life? He has need of your colt ( resources) can He take it at will? Or do you have what’s exclusively yours and off limits?

Remember His promise after Peter’s question? Matthew 19:27. This you’ll have to go read on your own. We stand to gain more than we will ever give willingly away to Him. Never underestimate the power of willing obedience. So where is His guest room? You’ll never know when the request will be made, so always be prepared for His coming.
