“Then the Lord told him, “I have certainly seen the oppression of My people in Egypt. I have heard their cries of distress because of their harsh slave drivers. Yes, I am aware of their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and lead them out of Egypt into their own fertile and spacious land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey—the land where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites now live. Look! The cry of the people of Israel has reached Me, and I have seen how harshly the Egyptians abuse them. Now go, for I Am sending you to Pharaoh. You must lead My people Israel out of Egypt.” Exodus 3:7-10 NLT
Who is your Pharaoh and where is your Egypt? Wherever your cry has gone out, I’m here to tell you that the Lord has heard you, and has sent One greater than Moses to help you. His Name is Jesus. You have done everything you know how to do, but things seem to only have gotten worse. Don’t give up, the One who sees you, has heard you and has come to help you.
You’re over worked and underpaid. You’ve committed to a marriage fraught with problems. You’ve given much and received little in return. In other words you’ve gotten the short end of the stick of life. But He’s seen you and heard you. Frustrated and disappointed by what you thought was a great relationship, you invested a lot of time and resources but in the end you were left wondering why you, why now? He has seen and heard.
The children of Israel were in that place. While Joseph was alive they enjoyed freedom, camaraderie with the Egyptians, and exponential growth in every area. Then one day that all changed. Life is fraught with surprises. But when God has heard you, things are about to change. That boss who has overlooked you, held back your raises or promotion-God has heard you. That spouse who has made your life a living hell-God has heard you. Your wayward sons and daughters. God has heard you. That painful abuse suffered at the hands of those you’ve trusted-God has heard you. The empty cupboards and bank accounts-God has heard you. Broken promises, broken relationships, broken dreams, broken hearts, discouragement, loss, self harm, loneliness. Take courage my friends. God has heard you.
He never ignores a cry and plea for help. What He’s done for Israel, He’s ready to do for you. People may give up on you, life may appear bleak, but He is your present help. He alone knows how to turn things around. All is not lost, not on your God. He knows how to restore the years. Whatever has been held up or held back, whatever has seemed overwhelming and impossible, the thing you have said will never change is about to undergo a massive makeover. God has heard you. The mighty Deliverer has come. It won’t take four hundred years. The manifestation of change is as close as your decision to believe His Word.
Raise your level of expectancy. You will get that raise, you will get that promotion. Your marriage will turn around. Your sons and daughters will be gloriously saved. Your broken hearts will be mended. Your relationships will be healthier this time around, you’ll make better choices. Why? Because your Heavenly Father has heard you! He only knows how to give good gifts to His children. He’ll remove the obstacles and roadblocks. He’s the God who raises up and takes down, He’s the One who closes and opens doors. He hasn’t sent a Moses, He’s come to see about you for Himself. He’ll remove that boss and give you favor with another. He did it for me after years of dealing with others who didn’t have my best interest. He’s no respecter of persons. No situation you’re facing is any match for His power to transform and change.
Remember that you cannot receive what you do not believe. You cannot have what you refuse to speak. Your words are a weapon for good or evil. Jesus was known for asking people who sought His intervention, “ what do you want me to do for you?” Do you want relief in Egypt or deliverance from Egypt? He has come down, but you must be willing to move with Him. God sent a deliverer for Lot and his family, but they weren’t ready to leave. Some people will cry out in Egypt but it doesn’t mean they’re ready to leave. Are you? Are you ready to leave Pharaoh and Egypt behind? Are you ready for the change you’ve been crying out for? Then prepare yourself. He has come down to deliver you.
I recall a situation that was shared with me by a beloved saint of Christ. Her marriage was rife with infidelity. She cried out to God for His intervention. God answered and was about to move him out of the way but she interceded for his life to be spared. The Lord asked her this question. “ what do you really want?” She lived with regret until the day she died. God knew her husband would never change. Pharaoh’s heart would never change no matter what God did. The people of Israel’s deliverance did not change their hearts. They wanted the hardship stopped, but Egypt was just fine. God doesn’t want a bandaid on a gaping wound. His deliverance is infinite. His plan is complete. He’s heard you. What do you want? He’s come down to do a new thing for you and through you. What is your response?
We’re not speaking of selfishness or temporary gains. Whatever will honor God in the process, He’s come to do. The changes He’s making for you will honor Him. He will get the glory out of it because you will speak of His goodness. No one but our God can deliver with a mighty hand. Is there anything too hard for Him? Get ready for a shifting. Your God has heard you.
