7/1/20 - WHO ARE YOU LORD?

John 1:1-5

In the beginning was the Word(Jesus), and the Word (Jesus) was with God, and the Word (Jesus) was God. He (Jesus) was with God in the beginning. Through Him (Jesus) all things were made; without Him (Jesus) nothing was made that has been made. In Him (Jesus) was life, and that life (Jesus) was the light of all mankind. The Light (Jesus) shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Colossians 1:15-20

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him (Jesus ) and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He (Jesus) is the head of the body, the Church (Believers); He is the beginning and the firstborn from the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.

Hebrews 1:1-3

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom also He made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful Word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

I have taken the time to write the verses out because it is relevant to the understanding of who Jesus is. Yes, He was born of a woman, a woman created by and for Him. A woman who would need the salvation He provides. Yes, He was born of a woman, but unlike us, sinful blood of Adam was not passed to Him. Mary was pregnant -not by natural but supernatural means. The reverence for Jesus and His name is lost to this generation. There is no true fear of God. We act as though we’re completely in charge. Ungrateful and entitled. We shake our fist as it were in the face of God. This is because we don’t know and acknowledge Him as God.(please read Romans 1:18-32) We have created gods of our own making.

Religion has worked hard at reducing God/Jesus to just being another man or great prophet. But, as you’ve read, He’s much more than that. Yes, He walked among us, but He was superior to us in the sense that He is our Creator. Everything was made by Him and for Him. He permitted Himself to be abused in many ways, God wanted to identify with us so that He could show mercy to us. Hebrews 4 reads: For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have One who has been tempted in EVERY WAY, just as we are; yet He DID NOT SIN.

Even though He identified with us in the sense that He wore human flesh, He was not tainted by the sin nature. Were He like us He couldn’t redeem us. Sin cannot redeem or ransom sin. So reducing Jesus to a mere prophet robs Him of His deity.

The scripture reads: God has highly exalted Him, giving Him a Name that is above EVERY name that at the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11

Jesus is fully God and fully man. (Isaiah 9:6) He walked among us as the God man. Identifying yet not conforming. Living among us yet mindful that this wasn’t home. Owning it all, yet not controlled by it. He set the perfect example for how we as His new born children should live. In the world but not of it, by conforming to its ways of being and doing. 1 John 2:15-17

Jesus could no more be separated from the Father as we can be separated from our spirit and live. Jesus with skin on allowed His followers to see Him, just as our houses allow us to see each other. John chapter 4 reads. “ God is Spirit, and they that worship Him, must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.” We are also spirit, soul and housed in a body. Genesis 1:27, 2:7 we worship and are connected to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, purely through a spirit to Spirit connection. This is why it’s hard to understand scriptures without the renewed mind because it’s spiritually revealed and discerned. 1 Corinthians 2

I caution you not to trivialize the Son of God, or humanize Him. He is God. He’s to be feared and revered. Do not take His holy Name on your lips as a swear or curse. Exodus 20:7 Please Read!!! There is power and authority in His Name. God has highly exalted the Name of His Son. He’s not like other Gods. He’s God of ALL gods, King of ALL kings and Lord of ALL lords! (Revelation 19.)There’s no one like unto Him. He’s not the “man upstairs” that’s your neighbor. He’s not the big guy in the sky. He’s not your buddy! He’s the I AM! Giver of life and breath! Every knee will bow before Him! Philippians 2:10-11 I hope you’re getting the revelation. The next time you’re inclined to say “Jesus Christ” I pray that you’re laying prostrate on your faces. That’s what His Name demands.

So who is He? He’s Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God! (Matthew16). Without Him, we are nothing. We owe our next breath to Him. We live and move and have our being in Him. (Acts 17:28 )We didn’t make Him, He made us. Who Are You Lord? I believe He’s answered. 1 Timothy 6:15, Revelation 1:5, Revelation 19:11-16 Deuteronomy 10:17 and many other verses like these gives us the answer. He’s more than just the carpenter’s son. He’s more than Mary’s boy child. They were just human vessels to a supernatural end. He knew who He was, and we should too.

Father God, forgive me for the times I have ignorantly misused and trivialized Your Great Name. I acknowledge my error and ask for your forgiveness. You have been merciful and for that I’m grateful. But now that I know, I ask you to help me be watchful and mindful of how I characterize you and use your Name. Thank you for revealing Jesus to me. Amen

“I AM the Alpha and Omega,” says the Lord God, “Who IS and Who WAS, and Who IS to come, The ALMIGHTY.” Revelation 1:8
