7/26/21-WHAT MAKES GOD SMILE?

Have you ever given any thought to that question? Have you ever sensed His pleasure, felt His smile? You can, you know? The more you draw near to Him, the more you know what makes Him smile. Have you ever felt giddy like a little child in His presence? You have a good chuckle when He reveals something special to you in His Word? It warms the heart. He does so much to show us how much He cares, isn’t it time we did the same for Him?

“Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! How beautiful it is when we sing our praises to the beautiful God, for praise makes you lovely before Him and brings Him great delight! Sing out with songs of thanksgiving to the Lord! Let’s sing our praises with melodies overflowing! Yahweh shows favor to those who fear Him, those who wait for His tender embrace.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭147:1, 7, 11‬ ‭TPT‬‬

He smiles whenever we come with our hands and hearts up and not with our hands out. When we come to give as much as we enjoy receiving. We don’t want to be takers, abusers of His goodness and generosity. The Bible says He rejoices over us with shouts of joy. Zephaniah 3:17. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we were to do the same? Pouring our hearts out to Him with songs of love and adoration. I shared in an earlier message that Israel grieved His heart, but so do we. Whenever we complain and get anxious about things it makes Him sad because we’re saying He cannot be relied upon. That His Word isn’t true.

Wouldn’t you like to know what makes Him smile and endeavor to daily lavish Him with unhindered praise and appreciation? What do you give to someone who has everything? You give them your life, time and undivided attention. That’s better than anything money can buy. It shows Him that you care, that He’s your everything. The Psalmist wrote;

“You lead me with your secret wisdom. And following you brings me into your brightness and glory! Whom have I in heaven but you? You’re all I want! No one on earth means as much to me as You.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭73:24-25‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Adoration and adulation flow naturally from the heart who knows the One to whom they speak. He longs to hear from you. He longs to smile because of honest words flowing from your heart to His. Words not forced or coerced, not of obligation or duress. But words from one lover to another. He is the lover of our souls. The book of Psalm is filled with examples of how we can adore and worship Him. Every praise is due Him. Gratitude is a good place to start. I will borrow from the words of Rick Warren some of the things that will make God smile. Some of us may already be doing them, while others may need to be reminded, or others that may never have thought that we can make our Heavenly Father smile. Whatever category you find yourself in, today is a great day to start. Ask Him. Abba, what can I do to bring a smile to your face today? Then wait. You’ll feel your heart being overwhelmed with His presence. A smile will come to your face. That’s His answer. Or maybe He’ll share something else with you. But here’s a short list:

God smiles when we love Him supremely

God smiles when we trust Him completely

God smiles when we obey Him wholeheartedly

God smiles when we praise and thank Him

God smiles when we fulfil His purpose

But most of all He smiles when you accept His invitation of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ. More than anything He longs for a personal intimate relationship with you, His beloved child. So won’t you make Him smile today by turning from a life of rebellion to a life or righteousness? Won’t you give Him your heart? It’s the greatest exchange you’ll ever make, and in return you’ll sense His pleasure and the broadest grin you’ll ever imagine.

I thank you, Lord, and with all the passion of my heart I worship You In the presence of angels! Heaven’s mighty ones will hear my voice as I sing my loving praise to You . I bow down before Your divine presence and bring You my deepest worship as I experience Your tender love and Your living truth. For Your Word and the fame of Your name have been magnified above all else! At the very moment I called out to You, You answered me! You strengthened me deep within my soul and breathed fresh courage into me. One day all the kings of the earth will rise to give You thanks when they hear the living words that I have heard You speak. They too will sing of Your wonderful ways, for Your ineffable glory is great!”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭138:1-5‬ ‭TPT‬‬

He’s smiling…are you the reason why?
