I heard Joyce Meyer ask her audience this question: “What are you doing with your dash?” The dash being the date of your birth to the date of your death. What have you done with those dash years? At the end of your days as a child of God, how will you be remembered? What will your legacy be? The accolades of men means little to God, the big question is the Title of today’s message. What are you doing, or have you done, with His life? One thing is certain, we cannot buy time. No matter how much wealth or lack thereof, we all have been given a twenty four hour day. We cannot add or take away from it. We must use it wisely. Live HIS life wisely, while it is called today. Tomorrow is not promised.

As children of God, from the moment of our new birth the countdown began. Before Christ we were living life unto ourselves. Whatever the flesh wanted, we willingly obliged. But as redeemed children of God through Jesus’ sacrifice, that all changed and our new life began. (2 Corinthians 5:17) We were fed the sincere milk of the Word to help us grow but now we have left the elementary stages of our walk to embrace the maturity of the meat of Gods Word. (1 Peter 2:2; Hebrews 6:1) We have and are experiencing His faithfulness, living it up spiritually, but if an audit were taken of our lives, would we fall short? Would He find a deficit? Would we be like the servant with the one talent who did nothing but bury what was entrusted to him? Matthew 25

What are you doing with His life? Are you busy chasing your own interests and not His? Are you living for money and things? Are you too busy and tired to offer Him what is His? Are you neglecting His presence in you? Do you even have time to pray? Have these messages become a replacement for your own quality time with Him? This is just a supplement. If used wisely, it can be beneficial but it can never replace your own personal, intimate experience with Him. The dash (years) between birth and death is the sum total of the life God has given us through His Son. He’s coming back, and we will all stand before Him to account for those dash years.

“Have you forgotten that your body is now the sacred temple of the Spirit of Holiness, who lives in you? You don’t belong to yourself any longer, for the gift of God, the Holy Spirit, lives inside your sanctuary. You were God’s expensive purchase, paid for with tears of blood, so by all means, then, use your body to bring glory to God!”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:19-20‬ ‭TPT‬‬

“But neither exile nor homecoming is the main thing. Cheerfully pleasing God is the main thing, and that’s what we aim to do, regardless of our conditions. Sooner or later we’ll all have to face God, regardless of our conditions. We will appear before Christ and take what’s coming to us as a result of our actions, either good or bad.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:9-10‬ ‭MSG‬‬

If we follow the life of Jesus, we’ll discover that from the day He was baptized to the day of His death, He was about His Father’s business. Those three years were power packed years. He went about doing good. He was never idle. He used every opportunity to bring light to darkness, hope to the hopeless, healing and deliverance to the sick and shackled. He fed the hungry, met with the outcasts and downtrodden. He not only left a legacy, He left an example for us to follow so that we wouldn’t have to be ashamed in Our Father’s presence.

I have glorified You on the earth by faithfully doing everything You’ve told Me to do. So My Father, restore Me back to the glory that We shared together when We were face-to-face before the universe was created.”

‭‭John‬ ‭17:4-5‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Paul boldly declared to Timothy that he had filled in his dash:

“And now the time is fast approaching for my release from this life and I am ready to be offered as a sacrifice. I have fought an excellent fight. I have finished my full course and I’ve kept my heart full of faith. There’s a crown of righteousness waiting in heaven for me, and I know that my Lord will reward me on His day of righteous judgment. And this crown is not only waiting for me, but for all who love and long for his unveiling.”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4:6-8‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Acts 10:37-38 Luke records what the disciples witnessed of Jesus’ life and example. He wasn’t idle and they weren’t either. And neither should we. We are to live His life Demonstrating to a lost and dying world that there is a better way. If we are distracted by what’s happening around us, offering up no solutions but instead being a part of the problem by our words and conduct, then we’re being idle. What’s that in your hands? What’s in your mouth? Who lives in you? What is your Christian life about? Jesus said if we’re not with Him, we’re against Him (Matthew 12:30). What is your message to a world gone mad? Who is your anchor? Jesus went about doing good. The apostles went about doing good. They bore His likeness and performed His miracles. They did something with His life.

What has He called you to do? Are you doing that? No matter where He has placed us, we are to be about His business. He’s coming back and bringing His reward with Him. What have you been doing with the talents He gave you? Have you gained more or buried it? We are ambassadors for Christ. How is your dash being filled in? Our actions will speak louder than our words. Are you a secret saint or a public spectacle? Both are useless in the kingdom. We are salt and light, a city on a hill. We’re hard to miss, we are God’s standout saints. Our lives should be His life- A mirror image of who He is in us to a world void of answers. Don’t be silent when you should speak up. Don’t be passive about your faith in Jesus. Jesus said if we remain silent the rocks will cry out. Don’t let rocks be louder than you. Luke 19:40

Instead of joining in the fray, let’s offer up some God solutions. Prayer is our greatest weapon. Jesus prayed often. We can’t win, we can’t even represent Him, without prayer. Prayer brings Him on the scene. We need His abiding presence to fill in our dash, if we want to do His life His way. Call unto Me He said, and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things you don’t even know about. Jeremiah 33:3 So how are you living His life? What will you have to show for your dash. November 24, 1950-

Father in the Name of Jesus,

We ask like the psalmist that You would teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. We spend so much time chasing after things that will not last, and have neglected that which is eternal. Help us to return to our first Love. To a time when all that mattered was our relationship with You. A time when our hearts hungered and thirsted for You. We’re reminded that the life we’re living is really Your life and not our own because we’ve been purchased by the blood of Jesus. Thank You for restoring and refreshing us once again. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen

“Behold, I am coming quickly! I bring my reward with me to repay everyone according to their works.”

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:12‬ ‭TPT‬‬
